Artefact: Graduation Ceremony

Being a teacher is not just about lesson planning and grading. Sometimes, it involves being a compassionate human. Grade 12 students this year do not get a stereotypical graduation ceremony due to COVID-19. Some of my students were finishing school in Quadmester 3 in my Personal Life Management (HIP4O) course. As such, I wanted to make a send off they would remember.
For each student, I made a personalized certificate about completing the course (which were very reminiscent of kindergarten awards). We also had graduation music played on the kazoo in the background and a small device that would imitate flash photography so they could get the experience of collecting their diploma. It was a small cheesy celebration of all that they had accomplished, but I believe all the effort went into prepping it was worth.
It was something silly and fun, but it will be memorable for all the students involved.
