This is an example of student work and from my very first lesson. The purpose of this lesson was to help students improve their literacy skills for the OSSLT while also reflecting on what Christmas means to them (whether they wanted to explore it from a Catholic or secular lens). My lesson was composed around how to write a paragraph in a :hamburger style." This includes an introduction, a development, and a conclusion.
To help the students ensure they had all the parts, I required that the students highlighted the sections of their writing to see if what they wrote had these three parts. This student did an excellent job at developing their idea of Christmas being about their family. They met the additional task criteria of highlighting it to look like a burger and recording how long it takes to read. The artefact shows a successful lesson that was cross-curricular. I also learned how to grade in a diagnostic setting with the paragraphs the students submitted.
